Profile
Concrete Waves is possibly the UK’s best skatepark. It consists of four separate areas: a retro-style pool, expansive street run, stair set and an internationally significant bowl. The park is therefore geared for all abilities and disciplines, including professional-level. The park is built with safety in mind, whilst facilitating large numbers of users. Specific features can be seen in the feature-breakdown image below.
Concrete Waves was built by Maverick and opened in July 2018 at a cost of £647k, replacing the original wooden skatepark.
The original Newquay ‘Wooden Waves’ skatepark was a transitions-oriented skatepark with street elements. It consisted of two angled mini ramps, creating a nice transfer gap, with the main body of the skatepark made up of two walls of quarter pipes and flat banks that houses a series of driveways & funboxes with a jump box & a spine, and large vert half pipe. It cost £111k when built in March 2003.
Newquay’s Concrete Waves Skatepark is managed by Newquay Council.
