This rocky outcrop lies a short distance north of Seaham Harbour. Until the 1950s, it was home to a sea stack or arch which possibly had a passing resemblance to a four-poster bed, from which the name of this part of the coastline is likely to have derived. However, coastal erosion has taken its toll, and today all that remains is an area of rock shelving, which can be accessed at low tide.

A small, sandy beach, backed by rocks lies between Featherbed Rocks and Seaham Marina. Behind this stands a steel sculpture by artist Ray Lonsdale, of a First World War soldier, sitting on an ammunition box, deep in thought. The statue is known locally as Tommy.

Parking can be found along the B1287 North Road, a short walk north of the rocks, or south of the rocks next to Seaham Marina.
