Profile
Fresh in from a Winter walk or Spring cycle ride, you are greeted by a blazing log fire to help revive you, along with tasty bar snacks or more generous portions of home-cooked food and a great range of traditional ales, alongside contemporary lagers. Local breweries, such as Wincle, Storm, Bear Town, Bradfield, Kelham Island, Hartington and Peak Ales are all featured on a regular basis, as are Black Sheep and Church End. Families are especially welcome and the premises are easily accessible, having flat access straight off the street, where there are some parking spaces; the main car park to the rear has ample room. Dogs are more than welcome in the bar and the pool room, (which has a quality table). The elegant dining rooms are dog-free zones, where you can enjoy the quality of the cuisine in relaxed comfort.
All in all, we believe there is something here to satisfy everyone, whatever the season, occasion, or weather. Come on in!
Kids of all ages adore Monyash’s playpark. How many village “rec’s” can boast a zip-wire? While that is the star feature for the daring, there is something here to suit all ages, from a simple swing and see-saw to a climbing net and that central structure which inevitably becomes a Pirate Ship in a child’s imagination. The high-speed roundabout is guaranteed to make you dizzy – best not attempt the log stump challenge straight after!
There is a basket ball net just to one side and the surrounding trees sometimes get pressed into service as dens and extra climbing equipment, (kids being kids).
The whole area is covered with soft play-bark and securely fenced. No dogs or glasses are allowed in here, but as the pub garden is just over the low wall and accessed by a small, child-friendly gate; parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, friends (and dogs!) can sit enjoying a meal or drink while keeping one eye on the youngsters.
The land on which the park stands is owned by The Bull’s Head, but leased to a village committee who maintain and insure the equipment.
